Overview & Benefits
Step 2 Summary
Step 2 involves making three consecutive compost piles according to the instructions in the compost class that you took, the certification program information on the website and the guidance provided from your mentor provides. This can take a full growing season. So, start the process of making good compost ASAP.
• Make the compost
• Record the Data
• Perform biological Analysis
• Submit data for approval
During this part of your training, we ask for payment of fees of $1,225 based on 35 hours mentoring time to work through the process of making good compost. If you require more time, then you will need to pay for additional hours until you achieve the goal of making good compost and your mentor approves your work.
Step 3 Summary
Step 3 involves making three consecutive compost teas and 3 consecutive compost extracts from the composts that you have made in Step 2. You will be following the instructions from the compost tea / extract class that you took, the certification program information on the website, and the guidance provided by your mentor.
• Document the recipe used
• Document the biology produced for each tea and extract made
• Submit data for approval
During this part of your training, we ask for payment of fees based on five hours mentoring time to work through the process of making three good compost extracts and three good compost teas. If you require more time than five hours of mentoring, then you will need to pay for additional hours until you achieve the goal of making good compost extracts and compost teas and your mentor approves your work.
Step 4 Summary
Step 4 starts when the quality of your composts, extracts and teas are approved. You will then put together your plan for converting the land you have chosen into a biologically managed plant production system. The endpoint desired is up to you to define, but the necessary food web structure must be achieved to allow all the benefits of a good food web to occur. Healthy plant growth must be achieved. We will work with you to optimize the plan, and then you will implement that plan.
• Submit land site choice
• Create your plan for the land to be converted
• Submit your plan and make any changes
• Set up the calendar to implement your plan
• Document and submit results
• Submit success story
For most people, once they have mastered making good compost (i.e., a good food web in the compost), the process of converting land to a condition of health for the plants desired takes a full growing season. Additionally, you will need to make certain that you complete the documentation needed to show that the conversion has occurred.
Putting the plan together and implementing it typically requires 20 hours of mentoring time through the year-long period that it usually takes to achieve your goal of converting land from dirt into soil. Just as with developing good compost, if you use up all the pre-paid mentoring time, additional hourly charges will be applied.
Once you successfully perform this conversion, submitted your data, and your summary success story, and these submissions have been approved, you will be added to the list of Certified Soil Life Consultants on our websites, and be included in on-going opportunities to work with clients from around the world, if you so desire.
The Benefits of Becoming a Certified Soil Life Consultant
As a Certified Soil Life Consultant, you will understand both the science behind replenishing aerobic organisms in the soil, and the practical management practices to achieve the correct balances of these organisms required by different crop, orchard and forest systems.
On our websites, we list those individuals who have successfully achieved conversion of dirt back into soil. Our students go on to help hundreds of growers from all walks of life, whether a small garden plot, or a several thousand-acre operation. We train people to understand how to deal with soil life in cold, hot, wet or arid parts of the world. The principles of soil life do not vary, but the practical applications do.
You will be qualified to set up your own consultancy service in our region. If you want to be considered for various jobs that come to us from around the world we can contact you to be considered for those jobs.
